Aaron Heslehurst of the BBC, chaired the Securities Industry Conference at the Royal Bank of Scotland Auditorium in Bishopsgate. This exclusive event, where attendance is by VIP invitation only, brought together some of the industry’s finest speakers and provided delegates with a unique insight into the Securities Industry.

Stephen Ford, Board Director & Joint Head of London Office at Brewin Dolphin, opened up the Conference with a practitioner’s view on structured products. Nicolas Bertrand, Head of Equity Markets & Derivatives at the London Stock Exchange followed with a demonstration of how the UK retail participation in the capital markets is on the increase.

Steve Tucker, Managing Director of BETA Global at Thomson Reuters, discussed the inextricable link between technology and business. Following this presentation was Carsten Dirks, Global Managing Director of Wealth Management, Interactive Data, who examined the way in which Holistic financial information systems can increase success in Wealth Management.

Delegates were provided with an insight into the inner-workings of London City Airport, when Richard Gooding, Chief Executive explained how the Airport is Flying through the Downturn.

Anthony Belchambers, CEO, Futures & Options Association and Ian Cornwall, Consultant, Bovill Limited both focused their presentations on Regulation, covering the RDR and the new regulatory landscape impacting the Derivatives market.

Delegates were treated to ‘pic ‘n’ mix’ by Claire Robertson (right), the Founder of Wellworths who told her story of how she was made redundant from Woolworths and set up her own Wellworths store in Dorset. After lunch, kindly sponsored by Pershing Limited, delegates were given the keynote address by Angela Knight, Chief Executive of the British Bankers’ Association.
