Webinar Overview

The government and regulators have consulted about legislative and regulatory changes to the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR) to reduce the administrative burdens on firms without undermining the overall effect of securing high standards of behaviour and accountability across the financial services sector.

In addition, the FCA has developed rules and has finalised guidance to set out its expectations regarding the assessment of fitness and propriety and the prevention of bullying, harassment, violence and other non-financial misconduct in the firms it regulates.

This workshop explores the proposed changes and offers insights into steps firms should consider taking now to prepare to meet these regulatory expectations.

Key Topics:

  • Background to the review of the SMCR
  • Recent changes to the SMCR
  • Legislative constraints on regulatory changes
  • Potential legislative developments to reform the SMCR
  • Proposed regulatory refinements to the Senior Managers Regime
  • Proposed amendments to other aspects of the SMCR
  • Extending the rules regarding non-financial misconduct
  • Clarifying the scope of non-financial misconduct
  • Enhancements to the assessment of fit and proper status
  • Practicalities of implementing the guidance

Who should attend?

This webinar is aimed at all those who are responsible for the overseeing and implementing the SMCR arrangements in their firms, including SMFs, Compliance specialists, HR professionals and those responsible for HR activities. This event is equally appropriate for staff from firms which are either solo regulated (FCA) or dual regulated (PRA and FCA).
